Have you received your raffle license letter from your provincial regulator? Is your raffle all set to submit to Funding change? Here are 4 things to know about changing your raffle.

1. Change things before you apply!

Everything is SUPER easy to edit and change about your raffle if you haven’t applied for your license letter with the provincial regulator. So considering that… take a minute to ensure everything is set up the way that you want it before getting all your supporting documents from the system to go with your application and then sending it in.

2. If the regulator wants changes made, ensure you update your raffle

It is not uncommon for the regulator to review your application and all the supporting documents that accompany it and advise changes be made. They may want something clarified in your rules for instance.

If that is the case, make the changes they require in the Funding Change system and print or download your supporting documents from your Reports page to submit back to them. That way you will be sure your changes are reflected in the system.

3. Some changes are harder than others

If your application is granted and you have received your license letter from the regulator, any changes that you may need to make on your raffle can be subject to some limitations.

Changes requiring written permission from the provincial regulator after a license has been granted are changes to:

  • Ticket Quantities
  • Ticket Prices
  • Prizes
  • Draw Dates and Times
  • Raffle Rules

Changes to this information will require submission of the written approval for the change granted by the provincial regulator before the change will be granted.

4. Cosmetic changes are no problem -- even encouraged -- but keep this in mind

When you are running a raffle over a long period of time it may be advantageous to switch us the images and headlines you are using to advertise the raffle on your raffle page! In fact, switching things up will keep your raffle fresh in people’s eyes with will help you garner more attention across the life time of your raffle.

Cosmetic changes that do not require approval from the regulator and that can be done when a raffle is running are:

  • Changes to images or copy on the Organization’s Raffle Page
  • Changes to messages on the Share page.

So what do you need to keep in mind?

Every change you make to the raffle will be logged and stored as a historical record and available for review by Funding Change and the provincial regulator if necessary.

As such, Funding Change reserves the right to deny changes and holds sole discretion to remove updates that are deemed offensive, inappropriate or that we feel contravenes the fair, responsible, legal operation of the raffle. That’s that! We just wanted to make sure you knew how to avoid the pitfalls of having to make important changes late in the raffle AND the advantages of making changes that could increase your sales during the raffle.
